Program Director
BEACON Afterschool is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and mission-driven Program Director to lead our K-12 BEACON Afterschool Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences for students beyond the school day while securing the resources needed to sustain and expand programming.
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of the BEACON Afterschool Program, including program development, staff supervision, grant administration, budgeting, compliance, community partnerships, and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will be a skilled relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and accomplished grant writer who can connect students, schools, families, and community partners to create engaging opportunities for learning and growth.
This position is primarily based in school and office settings and includes frequent interaction with students, families, staff, and community partners. Occasional evening and weekend activities are required, along with travel between district sites and attendance at regional or state meetings.
This is a Monday-Thursday year-round position for up to 32 hours per week over 170 contract days. We observe all school breaks and holidays.
Salary: $50,000/year with benefits
Core Job Responsibilities
Provide leadership and vision for K-12 afterschool enrichment programs.
Design, implement, and evaluate high-quality enrichment and academic support opportunities for students.
Supervise and support program staff across multiple school sites.
Manage program budgets and oversee fiscal accountability.
Ensure compliance with state and federal grant requirements.
Research, write, and manage competitive grant applications.
Develop partnerships with businesses, nonprofits, higher education institutions, and community agencies.
Secure additional funding through sponsorships, donations, and other sustainable revenue sources.
Collect and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Promote family engagement and community involvement.
Serve as the district's lead advocate for afterschool opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in education, youth development, program administration, grant management, or a related field.
Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Experience managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships.
Preferred
Master's degree.
Experience writing and administering state, federal, or foundation grants.
Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.
Knowledge of afterschool, expanded learning, and youth development best practices.

Hourly K-6th Activity Leader Job Posting
Activity leaders teach four days of activities per week for students in grades K-6. Activity Leaderrs will also work with Kinder students for an hour each day. Shifts are Monday through Thursday 1-5:30 pm, which includes one hour per day of paid on-site prep time. This position runs Monday-Thursday following the Grand County School District school year and is a 4.5 hour per day commitment.
BEACON Afterschool is a fluid educational environment. We are seeking someone adaptable and flexible. Professional development and on-the-job training are provided.
Hourly - $21/hr for 18 hours per week
Core Job Responsibilities
Plan and lead daily activities sessions.
Provide a safe, positive learning environment with fun, educational activities for students.
Prepare lesson plans that meet program requirements.
Show up on time and ready to teach.
Able to work in a shared space.
Assist with Family Events as requested.
Skills and Qualifications
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively as needed.
Follow-through with commitment to program schedule for at least one quarter. Whole school year preferred.
Ability to meet the needs of students as individuals.
Enjoys working with elementary-aged students.
Must be 18 year of age or older.
High School Diploma or GED required.

Hourly Teen Activity Leader Job Posting
Enrichment activities are available four days per week for students in grades 7-8 and/or 9-12. Activity leaders work under the supervision of their Site Coordinator to effectively lead activities and workshops. Activity leader shifts are Monday through Thursday 1:30 – 5:30, which includes an hour of prep time per shift. This position runs Monday-Thursday following the Grand County School District school year and is a 4 hour per day commitment.
